  • Catch Story: My son and I had fished for a while in the morning and caught a few perch. His girlfriend Baylee said that it sounded like a fun time to fish from the canoe, and asked me to take her out that afternoon. We started out fishing for perch with leeches - and proceeded to catch a few and lose a few. I decided to cast beside a mass of floating weeds when the action slowed down in case the perch were ambushing minnows there. We've caught bluegills on the lake before, but usually not when or where you are expecting them. This was one of those unexpected times. We rapidly caught a few nice bluegills - but this 11 inch one was certainly the biggest one of the bunch. We did not have a scale with us, but used the length to weight charts to estimate it's weight at 1# 4 oz.
