  • Catch Story: My dad had started musky fishing a few years ago and has never been able to catch one. He gets aggravated that they never want what he pitches at them. So I told him we should go musky fishing on fathers day weekend since it was my last weekend to be up and moving around,due to having foot rgery early morning on June 18th. So we get to Big Detroit Lake and put the boat in. As I backed the boat in and waited for my dad to park the car, i look over the edge and see a beautiful musky. I did not realize what I was in for, I wasn't bluegill fishing anymore! We start to fish and I tell him about what I had seen. After a few hours of fishing, we decided to go back to where I had seen the magnificent musky. I was pitching a spinner bait, and with every cast, I said to myself, "this is the one." But every time I remembered why it was called the fish of ten thousand casts. But suddenly, my spinnerbait gets pounded. My rod is bending and jerking everywhere. The drag was being pulled out like I had never seen before. My dad and I even went ocean fishing this passed January and those fish did not even fight as hard. As i reel the fish in, I start to think, "this is only 15lb. test line, I hope it doesn't break!" But after a few intense minutes of fighting that monster, my dad gets him netted. We marveled at the fish and took pictures and exvhanged surprised faces. It was like nothing we had ever seen before. My dad still has to catch one and he still has his mind set to it. There is no greater thing in the world than fishing and no way my father and I would rather spend our time. It was the experience of a lifetime, and we will be back for a bigger one as soon as I'm healed.
