- Catch Story: It was along into the wind paddle to the end of Lake Four in the BWCA. It was a day trip of 2.5 mile paddle. We ended up right below the falls trying for walleye. The fish were not biting then we decided to paddle up the current to the bottom of the falls and dropped lines in a calm pool. Kartrin was using a pink gig with a leech. We were bouncing them off the bottom. Karty took a lunch break when his line hit. It bent his rod over. He was using 22lb braided line. We struggled to get it into the canoe because we had no net. We did land it and took pictures then released at camp. What a memory for him and me. Temp was mid 70's sunny with a breeze. He caught it around noon. Th e length was 19 inches and the weight did not register accurately because of a broken scale. She was between 4 to 5 lbs. She was wide with eggs. What a fun catch for him and he decided to release because of her carrying eggs.
