- Catch Story: I took my Son, who was 13 at the time of the catch, to Linwood Lake in Anoka County after hearing it had some decent crappie in it. We ha been fishing for a couple of hours and caught a few small ones. The next thing I know James is in the back of the boat very excitedly asking me to get the net for this giant Crappie. I looked and didn’t think it was a Crappie at first. I got the net, we landed it and both our hearts were pounding with excitement. We weighed it and realized we didn’t have a tape measure, thankfully the nice gal at the boat inspection station had a fish tape for us. We measured it and took pictures and I told James it was up to him to keep it or release it. He chose to release it so another kid could catch it. It will be hard top this day. I told him he caught the fish of a lifetime at 13 years old.
