- Catch Story: We went out at midnight for the 2020 Opener. Water temps (44) were much warmer than air temps (29). We were closing in on 4 hours on the lake and had caught and released 37 walleyes to that point - I got another bite and immediately said "Better Fish". With headlamps on - we were able to spot it 30 ft from the boat and we knew it was a big musky or pike. It wasn't until we got him close to the boat before we knew it was huge and that it was indeed a pike. It took 4 runs and it was finally tired enough to join us in the boat. We got a quick measurement and thought about putting it on the scale but didn't want to hang the fish from a scale and instead released it quickly after a few pics. 20 lbs is just a guess and I'm fine with whatever someone else wants to say it weights as it really doesn't matter to me - it was a heck of a fish and it got to live another day so someone else has the chance to experience that rush.
