- Catch Story: It was the first day of our trip to catch lake sturgeon. It was freezing and starting to snow. We hadn't been fishing for too long when my boyfriend and I each got a bite at the same time. His was much smaller (54") so he reeled his in and I managed to catch a quick picture of his while fighting my monster. After a long fight with the fish running every time she got close to the boat, I finally landed my biggest lake sturgeon ever. We measured her at 65" (my height!) and around 85 lbs. She was fat so we called her Fat Mama. We took a few pictures and let her go, to hopefully have some sturgeon babies and get bigger.
