- Catch Story: My friend Hunter Kavanagh went fishing on 10/10/23 to Big Kandiyohi Lake just south of Willmar, MN. We were out trying to catch some fall walleyes and I was fishing with a Berkeley Jig Head and a Strike King Rage Swimmer Plastic and we were fishing about 2-3 feet of water in front of a 8-9 foot hole and I hooked into something big. This was at about 6 P.M. The Bass never jumped out of the water so I thought it was a big Walleye. Netted the fish and it was a Largemouth Bass! We hooked it up to our scale in the boat and it weighed 5.57 pounds. I was thinking about the catch and I did decide to keep it to get mounted but I wanted to apply for a Master Angler Certificate for this catch. So I took it the morning of 10/11/23 to Mel's Sports Shop in Spicer, MN to get a Certified Weight with their Hobart Scale and it weighed 5.58 pounds! It is currently at the Taxidermist in Willmar, MN so I can put it on my wall. Great memory made!
