- Catch Story: We were walleye fishing with jigs and plastics and i snagged into this 65" sturgeon. It felt like a snag at first, but then it started to run and my buddy said that it was a sturgeon. The long fight had started as we were using walleye gear and this fish was a beast. We chased the fish around for approximately an hour before it had finally tired enough to come to the surface about 20' from the boat. I pulled the fish over to the boat and my buddy placed the net at the head of the fish and i grabbed the tail to assist with getting the fish in the boat. We removed the hook and then proceeded to measure the fish. It measured out at 65" and the estimated weight of the fish is 85 pounds. We snapped a couple of photos and then released the dino back into the river to be caught again.
