- Catch Story: “Just one more cast Dad” 8-year-old Drake pleaded. “There is a big one right in that spot. I just know it.” Drake said pointing his rod tip. “If you give me just one more cast, I’ll catch it and show you” Drake said. “How do you know?” questioned Dad. “I just know. I can feel it. Trust me Dad I can feel it.” Drake explained. “OK buddy. Just one more cast – that’s it. Make it a good one.” Dad said. The boat was silent as Grandpa and Dad’s eyes were glued to Drake. Drake checked the hook of his wacky worm to make sure it was nice and sharp. He then reeled back and launched his cast to the exact spot he pointed to a few moments earlier. Ripples disturbed the glassy surface of the water and Drake just paused for a few seconds. Then he gave a couple of subtle twitches to his lure and paused for another second. Drake reeled down and then thrust his hips into the hookset as he yelled “Got her!”. The Largemouth leaped out of the water violently shaking her head. Drake pointed his rod tip down to keep her from jumping again and coaxed the beast out of the thick cover. In one fluid movement Drake reached into the water, grabbed the lower lip of the Largemouth and held up the beautiful 18 ¾ inch creature. “See. I told you there was a big one in there. I could feel it.” Drake said. Grandpa said in amazement “Drake from this day forward you will be known as Mr. Fishing”.
