- Catch Story: I am Walter Hutton, a Conservation Agent for the State of Missouri. My brother, Dennis Hutton, is a Missouri State Highway Patrol Lt., Water Patrol Division. We entered the Boundary Water on the Kawishiwi River. Dennis was in the front of the canoe and decided to troll with a red and black-striped Rattle Trap, enroute to our destination. We had gone about a quarter mile from the entry point when he caught the largest smallmouth bass I have ever seen. I have three rivers in my district, in Laclede County Missouri, and we are known for our excellent smallmouth bass fishing. I have helped our fisheries biologists electro-sample for 20 years and the largest smallmouth bass I have seen was 20 inches. Wow!!! As they have said about the tornado that recently hit Joplin, Missouri, the pictures just do not do it justice.
