- Catch Story: I had taken my daughter ice fishing for the first time. We were using dead sticks and tip ups, in under 10 feet of water. This pike hit on a thawed alewife under a tip up in about 9 feet of water. Really cold day, but sunny. As the temperature rose and the sun was a late morning high, the bite really took off and we ended up landing 4 pike over 40" and 4 over 38". All fish were released and swam away after a very quick photo.
