- Catch Story: 10:15am Memorial Day, 10 feet of water. We were out fishing since 8am with roadrunners and minnows not catching anything. So, I switched to a gold and brown shallow diving Rapala to switch it up and within 10 minutes caught this honey. At first, I thought it was a small Northern who was bringing up half the lake with it. Then the line started to go out and I knew I had something larger. In fact I had to adjust the drag four times because I wasn't getting anywhere. I got him in the boat without a net as well. We weighed and measured and took a picture as fast as we could. What made this experience even better is when I held the Walleye in the water to revive it. It was motionless for a short time and with one strong whip of its tail, it took off for the deep. Awesome fish. Awesome day!
