- Catch Story: While fishing for smallmouth bass with 8# test and a pinched-barb, yamamoto jig, I dropped my line over the side of the canoe in order to better control the boat for my partner. It did not escape me that I can sometimes pick up a fish this way as it follows my partner's lure back to the boat. After trying unsuccessfully to land her from the canoe, I jumped onto a rock shelf and managed to guide her into a 6" deep cut on the rock. A few quick photos and she was back in the water as good as new. Great fish, great trip (my 16th since 1990).
