- Catch Story: This was our last morning out fishing during our summer vacation. Last chance I'd have to try and get my wife Nikki her first muskie! I tried earlier during the week a few times and the first night I landed a 47in dandy and she was pissed I bit my line! Ha! Anyway, it was a rough morning as the depth finder was not working! Lucky I'd been out all week so I knew some spots to try and make work. No fish. And then around 9:30 the trolling motor quit too! (Pretty sure I forgot to charge that ha) So we were bummed and going to just call it quits too. I really wanted the wife to get one though, so I figured we'd try one last spot I knew we could just drift by which the wind and give a couple last hurr-ah casts. So we get there and Nikki gives a couple casts...then she gets some backlash and gets a rats nest. So I quick give her my rod so she can keep after em while I work on the nest. I get er out fairly quickly so I figured I'd give the rod a couple test casts. Give it one everything feels good. Give it another cast. The lure hits the water and BAM!!! The fish just hammered it! I set the hook and she exploded up out of the water straight in the air. The whole fish was out of the water. Awesome thing to see! I yelled for Nikki to grab the net and all I hear is "dam it Dan u ######! That's my fish again!!!" HAHA! she was a little upset and that's all I heard as I battled the fish in. It was pretty comical and intense at the same time. But Nikki did a great net job and landed her on the first pass by the boat! We both caught our breath and we were shaking. It was nuts. So we quick got a measurement and snapped a picture. I couldn't believe how big she was! So we put her in the water and she hungout long enough I gave her another double check measurement and sure enough 51in on the nuts. It was an amazing way the a end a great week up north. Except Nikki still didn't get a fish! Next year well get you one juice!!!
