- Catch Story: I caught this channel catfish on a Daiwa Spinning Reel, a 6'6" Medium Heavy Abu Garcia rod, and 14 pound test. We had caught two 7 pound and one 6 pound channel catfish that morning, and I was getting tired. However, we decided to stop our canoe at one last spot, and let's just say I'm thankful we did. His initial hit was actually surprisingly light relative to the others. However, he immediately charged downstream and I realized I had hooked something much, much bigger. It took me roughly 15 minutes to land him. Catching him makes me think there may even be 20 pound channel catfish in there. It's a beautiful river.
