those who had a great influence on the great sport of fishing, whether famous or not.

Vados Bait & Tackle has been in business since 1947.  Family owned and operated every day of its existence. Greg and Eric Fisher purchased the Bait & Tackle store in June of 2000 and then purchased the shipping business, Vados Bait Express in January 2001.  They immediately brought Vados Bait Express on line with its own web site.  They average over 22 million maggots per year through Express and growing.  For the last 69 years Vados has been selling premium live bait and tackle in the Twin Cities and in our current location since 1950.

Vados Bait & Tackle has always strives to be the “Best in Baits from the Land of Lakes”.  They wanted the best selection and the best quality live bait on the planet.  They have many years and generations of very loyal customers coming here and taking our bait literally all over the state and beyond.  Hard work, great trappers and attention to detail are all part of it this.  They find and buy the best bait available and then grade it, package it and care for it to make it the best possible choice for a fisherman.  They have the ability and the facilities to size minnows in ways most bait shops can’t.  They also hand grade leeches by size and they are premium.  And also provide the biggest Canadian night crawlers available for their customers.

Back in the 1980’s Vados Bait introduced Eurolarvae to Minnesota fisherman.  Gordy Vadis, Dave Genz, Rick Johnson and few others worked hard together spreading the word and proving the great fish catching qualities of Eurolarvae.  It is a tremendous live bait choice in all seasons for pan fish, perch and trout but ice fishing is where it really shines in popularity.

Through Vados Bait Express they sell and ship live bait all around the continental US.  Eurolarvae is one of their premier live bait offerings, especially during the hard water, ice fishing season.   They also sell and ship wax worms, meal worms, fresh water shrimp, leeches and night crawlers depending on the season and different state regulations.  Our shipping business has helped us bring Minnesota’s best live bait to the rest of the country.

They have also been blessed over the years with so many great business friendships.  Like the Genz family, Griz, Mark Fischer and Larry Bollig, Jimmy Bell, the Capras and all of the other fishing stores in our area.  “There is another group of people that no one else gets to know but us because they are our trappers and they are very good at what they do.  I almost hate to mention names because I can’t name them all. We especially need to mention our friends Gordy & Sandy Vadis.”

Many customers, tournament anglers and guides drive out of their way to come and get their bait from them, for these customers and every other customer that walks in door, they are treated like family, and Vados Bait feels so grateful and blessed.

They have a passion for families and kids fishing.  This is where they focus their donations and out reach.  They believe that the best place for Mom’s, Dad’s and Kid’s is together and their favorite way to be is together fishing.

One of their favorite events has been their Take a Kid fishing Day.  Last year they had 89 people, kids and parents attend.  Everyone fishes, eats, learns how easy it is to start fishing and everyone leaves with at least a fishing rod and reel.
