  • Catch Story: I was out with my dad in the canoe on my grandparents lake. We had gone out about 5 times together and had gotten used to using the ned rig to fish for bass. Since it is a small lake, we could go around the whole thing in about 2 or 3 hours. We took turns for who got to cast to the docks and who had to paddle, because that was where we got the most fish: under docks. It was my turn to cast under the dock, so I did. I let my line go all the way to the ground, and I did my first bump. Immediately, there was a huge weight on the line. The first challenge was getting this beast out from under the dock because I knew if he wrapped around a metal pole he was gone. I aggressively finessed him out from under the dock and landed him. My dad forgot to bring his phone, and we didn't want to walk on the canoe, so I had to take my own picture with the fish and measure it. I took the picture first, because that was what mattered the most to me. I then measured it and I made sure to close the fish's mouth before running the tape measurer, and I was amazed when it turned out to be 21". I then went to release it and it instantly swam away, which was really nice. I remember this very well because it was the largest bass I have ever caught.
